Hurricanes Season Preview

Miami enters the season ranked #7, which many Canes fans are upset about because both they and Indiana played in the National Championship Game, and neither is in the top 5, but it is what it is. Miami has a new QB in Darien Mensah, and he could be the real difference-maker for the Canes. He could be the guy to win them a 6th Natty. Mensah comes over from Duke, who led Duke to an ACC Conference title and was the reason Miami got into the College Football Playoffs cause of their win over Virginia, and he was electric. He comes along with Cooper Barkate, a 1,000-yard receiver, who makes the Wide Receiver for Miami a legit nightmare to deal with, cause you have Toney, who took the College Football World by storm last year, and is gonna be getting a lot of attention night in and night out, with a bunch of young, super-talented players that can have themselves a night. The RB room has Mark Fletcher back, who, to me, was the College Football MVP for the Canes, cause, in the four games he played, he put the Canes on his back. Losing Cici Mauigoa hurts because he was a three-year starter and basically the recruiting class that helped get Miami back on the map, and he was the monstrous momentum the Canes haven't had in a very long time. Still, now Mauigoa is playing for the New York Football Giants, and the 5-star offensive lineman, Jackson Cantwell, who I fully expect to have growing pains throughout his Freshman year. Defense lost Reuben Bain and Akeem Mesidor, who were absolutely dynamic last year. They got drafted in the first round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Bain) and the Los Angeles Chargers (Mesidor). Still, we got some young, talented players who will step up and ball out, and we also got a former 5-star named Damon Wilson, who will be viewed (not saying he is by any means) as the Bain/Mesidor replacement. Expectations for the Canes this year, at the bare minimum, are to win the ACC title, cause the ACC is a really weak conference. Miami is by far the most talented team, and they need to prove they don't have to scrape into the playoffs because they dropped a couple of games they should've beaten the brakes off of. This should be the year that Miami gets it done, and I'm super excited for the season to begin and to see how the new guys play. Go Canes.
