Toney
An Ode to the 2001 Miami Hurricanes

Malachi Toney remains an anomaly, setting the record for most catches in a game with 16 (passing Mike Hartley Jr., who set it against Duke in 2021), and he went for 194 yards and three touchdowns. Toney is also 25 catches away from passing Xavier Restrepo for most catches in Miami history, and the dude is only a sophomore. The whole game was a complete masterclass for the Canes (especially as they were ranked #1 for the first time since 2002), and they honored (depending on who you ask) the greatest football team in College Football history: the 2001 Miami Hurricanes. The defense still needs tons of work, and with UNC next week and Notre Dame the following week, it's gonna be huge if Miami can get everyone back. Blowout games like that are always nice cause it makes your Saturdays less stressful, unless your team is the one getting blown out. But overall, I'm happy with the win. It's gonna be another stressful night next weekend as Miami takes on UNC in Chapel Hill (where it's usually a tough place for Miami to play) on Halloween, and it's gonna be a primetime game that starts at 7:30 on ABC. Go Canes.
Miami leads the all-time series, 31-12-1.
