Miami Preview: Pitt

Old Big East turned ACC foes face off again.

Series History

Miami leads the all-time series, 30-12-1. Miami has owned this matchup, winning 23 of the last 27 meetings against the Pitt Panthers.

Keys to the Game

Gonna be a tough game, cause Pitt is a really feisty team, and now that Miami is ranked number 1, Pitt is looking to spoil another matchup against Miami (Miami was number 2 in 2017 and lost to Pitt, which spiraled downhill). I expect Mensah to bounce back, even though his stat line last week against FSU was actually great; for how his season is going, it was an underwhelming game. I expect Toney to keep doing Toney things and keep being a baller out there. I expect Fletcher and Mallory to be solid in the run game, with Lyle sprinkled in as that change-of-pace kind of running back. Defense is the one thing that still worries me with all the injuries piling up, but the backups are good enough to find a way to get stops.

Outcome

I expect Miami to win this game, but it's gonna be a game where everyone's on the edge of their seats because Pitt is known to be a really tough opponent.
