    Malachi Toney set the opening weekend of college football into a total frenzy, with 12 receptions, 234 yards, and 3 TDs, which he has the second most receptions in a game with 12 (last year against Pitt, he tied it with 13, and he tied his career high when he played against Virginia Tech), tied with the most receiving touchdowns in a game with 3, and he broke Eddie Browns record of 220 yards when he played against Boston College back in 1984(which was the iconic Hail Flutie game). By the time Mali is done playing for Miami, he's gonna rewrite all the records and basically be a legend in Miami history. He will be the greatest wide receiver that has ever set foot on the campus of Miami. Lastly, he will be lighting it up in the league in a couple of years.

    Mensah had himself a debut, going 27/30, 401 yards, and 5 TDs. He's gonna be the reason Miami finds their 6th title; I'm not trying to look ahead cause its one game at a time, and that isn't title January. Mensah, out of the three transfer QB's we had (him, Cam Ward, Carson Beck), he could very easily be the best out of everyone, and that's saying a lot cause Cam was the first pick overall a couple of years ago. It's just gonna be a really fun year to watch this offense, like how the offense just exploded on the scene back in 2024, and if Mensah and Toney both continue to shine, they both can see themselves in contention for a Heisman.

    Marl Fletcher Jr. didn't have the type of game you would've liked, but it's only week 1. You have four new starters on the offensive line, so it's gonna take some time for them to gel, and it's nice that the Canes play Florida A&M on Thursday. You use that game as sorta like a practice where you can get it right, not trying to look down Florida A&M at all, but with the track record of the two teams, it's usually never close. Fletcher could eclipse Duke Johnson's career record, which is 3,519; Fletcher is sitting at 2,353 yards, and if Miami has another deep run again, Fletcher would easily clear the record, and I would absolutely love that for him. Big Mark (Mark Fletcher's dad, who sadly passed away before Miami's game against Florida State back in 2024) would be stoked for his son.

    Cooper Barkate also debuted against Stanford, and he had 4 receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown. I fully expect Cooper to be a massive thorn in the opposing team's side; you're gonna have to deal with Toney all game, so you try your best to keep him covered, and when you let's say do, you have this white dude that is balling, and it's gonna make everything so tough on teams. It gives the Canes the deepest Wideout room we've had in a very long time. I expect Cooper to be the perfect complement for Toney.   

    The Defense had moments where you can tell that, losing Bain and Mesidor, it's not gonna be the same unit like we had last year, so it's gonna take some time for them to work things out, cause if they play like this against the likes of Notre Dame, it's gonna be a shootout, and after that whole fiasco last year where it was Miami and Notre Dame battling for the last playoff spot, Marcus Freeman is gonna have the Fighting Irish looking for blood. I trust Corey Heatherman to fix it and get everyone meshing.

    Overall, it was a dominant win for Miami, and I can't complain. With the defense, I'm not talking down to them cause its one game, and I know we'll right the ship. After how 2024 went, I don't want to see a wasted opportunity go to waste again. The offense was amazing, and I'm excited to see them progress as a team and see where this goes. Go Canes.
