At the 17:08 mark, Jai Lucas took a timeout after Stetson took a 6-0 lead. Miami has had a rough time knocking down shots, but then Lucas subbed in Tre Donaldson, and they found some solid momentum. But Stetson keeps finding answers to keep Miami at bay. Dante Allen made a dunk at the 10:08 mark to get the game within two, making the score 15-17 in favor of Stetson, but then Tre Donaldson fouled a three-point shooter to push the lead to five. Malik Reneau is putting the team on his back so far, with a dunk and a three-point play to tie the game at 20, and with the pressure defense causing a steal by Tre Donaldson, the kickout to Reneau with a three-pointer gave Miami their first lead, 23-20. Renause has scored eight straight points, with Stetson taking a timeout at the 8:43 mark of the first half. Miami is currently on a 15-0 run, and it all started when Reneau checked back into the ball game with Miami leading 30-20 at the 8-minute timeout. Stetson went on an 8-5 run until Shelton Henderson (5-star Freshman) got an and 1 to push Miami's lead to 9. Miami is really pushing the tempo, and Stetson can't keep up —it's exciting to see as a Hurricanes fan. Dante Allen hit a three-pointer with four seconds left in the half to push the lead to 19. Miami leads Stetson 55-36 at the half. Start of the Second Half. Reneau is getting right back to work with getting to the line right out of the gate, going two for two. Dante Allen with a nice dish to Tre Donaldson, and Malik Reneau with an one opportunity causing Stetson to call a timeout at the 16:28 mark in the second half. Tru Washington got rewarded with going to the rim for an easy layup to push the Canes' lead to 30. Shelton Henderson had the easiest basket of his life when the Stetson player tipped it right back into his own basket. Dante Allen is gonna make a name for himself with his effort on the defensive end, which led to a 10-second call on the ball handler. Malik Reneau threw up a nasty alley-oop to Shelton Henderson. This is gonna be a fun year. I also have low expectations for the year, after the last two seasons were massive letdowns following back-to-back deep runs for the basketball program, making the Elite 8 in 2022 and the Final 4 in 2023. Miami's transition game is gonna be lethal at times this year, and it's going to be interesting to see, especially when they play much tougher competition. Tre Donaldson threw an alley oop to Udeh Jr, and Donaldson with a leak out to push the lead out to push the lead to 38. Miami dominated the game, winning 102-61. Miami moves to 3-0 on the year. Malik Reneau led the team in scoring with 22 points on 9-15 (60%), 1-1 (100%) from the three, and 10 rebounds (4 offensive, 6 defensive). Tre Donaldson led the team with 10 assists. Miami returns to action as they take on their in-state rival and reigning National Champions, the number #10 Florida Gators, at 8:30 PM on ESPN. Go Canes.
