Jaelen Phillips has been traded to the Philadelphia Eagles

Thank you, JP15

Jaelen Phillips has been traded to the Philadelphia Eagles for a 2026 3rd-round draft pick. Overall, I like the move because we got some value for a player with known injury problems. I was really stoked when the Dolphins drafted Phillips in the 1st round of the 2021 NFL Draft, playing for the Miami Hurricanes. At the time, with the pick, it was one of those things where you get a solid pass rusher coming into the league, and having to play Josh Allen twice a year, you would need him to get to someone like Allen to make his life really difficult. In his rookie year, he set the record for most sacks in a single season for a rookie with 8.5 sacks that year. It's just the injury bug really hit him hard from his time at UCLA, being forced to medically retire from concussions, to blowing his Achilles against the Jets a couple of years ago, and tearing his ACL against the Titans last year. The Dolphins did pick up his fifth-year option, but Miami had no interest in extending him long term given the injury list he's currently dealing with. The trade works out for both Miami and Philadelphia. Miami is going through a rebuild right now, and they are going to gut this team down and stockpile picks, so they can use them for the future and possibly build a solid foundation. Philadelphia needed help with the pass rush, so giving up a 3rd-round pick for someone of Phillips' caliber is a solid addition for them, cause you'll need that pass rush to get home in the playoffs. Overall, I look forward to seeing Phillips flourish in Philly, because in a new setting, it's a fresh beginning for him, and who knows—if he plays great, he can get that long-term deal and set him and his family up for the long run. So thank you, Jaelen, for your hard work and dedication you showed over the past 5 years. When Miami makes any more moves —which they are already planning — I'll be covering it. Phins Up.
