Miami vs South Florida

Game Preview

I'm looking for Miami to dominate and be the better team against the Bulls.

First Quarter

I'm liking the drive so far against a very stout Bulls defense. Malachi Toney continues to be a solid playmaker for a freshman wideout. Solid opening drive capped off with Beck finding Joshua Moore for his first-ever TD on an eight-yard pass. Miami 7, South Florida 0. Now let's see what the defense can do against a speedy South Florida offense. Terrific stop by the defense, now it's time for the offense to come out and drive down the game to put more pressure on the Bulls. Nice conversion on third down. Mark Fletcher had a nice, physical 19-yard run. Malachi Toney was open at the drag, but Beck almost threw his first pick of the season. Keelan Marion had a solid reverse run for the first down for the Canes. Beck delivered a great pass to a wide-open Moore for a 39-yard pass, and Moore was strong enough to hold on to the ball for his second touchdown of the day. Miami 14, South Florida 0. Busted coverage on a 52-yard pass by Brown to Nimrod, that would've held them to a three-and-out. Great stand by the defense after allowing a 52-yard pass, and forced South Florida to a field goal. South Florida attempted a fake punt for a touchdown, but Mario called a timeout to reorganize. Nico Gramatica made a 45-yard field goal. Miami 14, South Florida 3. End of quarter one. Miami 14, South Florida 3.

Second Quarter

Offense needs to come and continue to impose its will on the Bulls' defensive line, making them feel it over the course of the game. Not the start of the quarter I want with going three and out. Time for the defense to step up and get the ball back for the offense. Shelton Douchette sighting. A weather delay halted play. Play is finally back after an hour and forty-two minutes. Defense stepped up after giving up a 53-yard pass to hold South Florida to only a field goal. Miami 14, South Florida 6. Offense came right back down, going 75 yards with back-to-back big plays from Mark Fletcher, with a 20-yard reception and a 38-yard rush for a touchdown. Miami 21 South Florida 6. Great three-and-out by the defense, with a booming hit by Aguirre on Brown. Tough drive for the offense, which ends in a false start on Mauigoa and a three-and-out. Another great series by the defense was capped off with an interception by Bryce Fitzgerald, marking back-to-back games where he has had an interception. Another big boy drive by the offense, and they keep showing why they are the much better team with Beck rushing for a 2-yard rushing touchdown. Miami 28, South Florida 6. Defense stepped up, forcing another three-and-out. A great punt return by Malachi Toney. Another sick catch by CJ Daniels. Beck threw an interception, his first of the year, which was tough because he really wanted to put this game out of reach. Defense is just being relentless tonight, forcing this uptempo South Florida another three-and-out. Miami ran out the clock to take it to halftime. Miami 28, South Florida 6.

First Half Recap

An awesome first half on both sides of the ball, and it's showing that Florida and Boise State are highly overrated. If the defense comes out and gets another three-and-out and you can get the offense to score another touchdown, then that's basically the game because I don't see South Florida coming back into this game. Miami cannot come out and play conservatively cause South Florida can get back into this game. But I'm all around happy with how they're playing on both sides of the ball, and Joshua Moore is having a tremendous game with two catches for 47 yards and two touchdowns.

Third Quarter

Another big three and out by the defense. Time for the offense to go back down and put this game away. I would love an absolute grind-it-out kind of drive, just beating them down. CJ Daniels went down; hopefully, he is alright. Can't have a false start there, guys. Keelan Marion redeemed himself by getting the first down. Beck threw his second interception of the game, which was recovered on a lucky tip, but it was an overthrown pass by Beck. They blow the punt dead to review if the defense had 12 players on the field. Miami had too many men on the field, which I'm annoyed about since they waited so long to address it. Defense bailed out Beck, and they managed to get a fumble recovery, which gave the offense the ball back. Another false start that kills the drive. We can't let the Bulls hang around, man, they will get a break and it'll wake them up. This is such an irritating drive the Bulls are on right now. Come on, defense, stop them right here on fourth down. Big fourth down stop by the defense. The offense finally came back out and was aggressive, and it paid off with Fletcher getting his second touchdown of the day. Miami 35, South Florida 6. South Florida is driving again before the end of the quarter. End of the third quarter. Miami 35, South Florida 6.

Fours Up

For the fourth, I want them to grind this game out and end it. The Bulls finally scored a touchdown, and the defense stopped the two-point conversion. Miami 35, South Florida 12. Big pass to Tony Johnson, going for 51 yards. Mark Fletch has been a bell cow for us the whole night. Beck threw his third touchdown pass on the night. Just send these bums back home on the I-75 North to Tampa. Miami 42 South Florida 12. Excellent recovery by Poyser, as that would've been a touchdown for the Bulls—great sack by Pickett Jr. Great fourth down stop by the defense to get the ball back to the offense. Hey, South Florida does get called for penalties. Incredible drive by the backups on the offense so far—touchdown for Girard Pringle Jr., Miami 49 South Florida 12. Defense held tight til the very end. End of the game. Miami 49 South Florida 12.

Final Thoughts

This was an incredible win for the Canes. I'm loving all the freshmen who are contributing now, and it's only going to make them better when they take the field two to three years from now. Joshua Moore was a stud today with two receptions for 47 yards and two touchdowns. Mark Fletcher was an absolute unit today, with 16 carries for 121 yards and three touchdowns. The defense stifled this high-octane offense, allowing only 12 points and holding them to 40 yards rushing, which is crucial for South Florida's rushing attack. All in all, this was a wire-to-wire win for the Canes, and I'm happy that we handled business against a very pesky South Florida Bulls team. Go Canes.
