Miami vs Florida
Game Preview

With College Gameday being in town, and with a sellout at Hard Rock Stadium. I expect this game to be an insane game to watch, and I also expect Miami to run the ball down the Gators' throat.
First Quarter
Incredible opening drive by the defense, the perfect start for a rivalry game. Solid run by Fletcher to start the drive, and a great catch by Toney to keep the drive going. What a big boy drive by the Canes, with Marty Brown getting the touchdown. Miami 7, Florida 0. Another incredible drive by the defense, forcing Florida to punt again. It couldn't be a better start to the game; now the offense needs to pound the rock down and make the Gators feel it. CJ Daniels with a clutch 3rd down conversion, and I thought we were gonna get called for a hold. I'm absolutely loving how this drive is going; it's definitely gonna wear the Gators out over the duration of this game. Malachi Toney is so good for being an 18-year-old. End of the 1st Quarter. Miami 7, Florida 0.
Second Quarter
What a crappy way to end the drive. At least we pushed the lead out to double digits with a Carter Davis 53-yard field goal. Miami 10, Florida 0. Another three-and-out for the defense would be huge, and a massive backbreaker for Florida. The defense is absolutely being a bunch of headhunters in this game. Another big defensive stop, and the offense needs to get more points on the board, looking for 6/7, fine with 3. A holding penalty was called, but it saved us on that 3rd down. Fletcher has a massive run, and he keeps imposing his will. Florida's defense stepped up this drive, forcing a punt. Come on, defense, get another stop. Another big three and out, the defense has come out to play tonight, man, they're violent and relentless. Come on, offense, you have great field position, go down and score. Offense is playing really flat as of late, going three and out. Defense needs to find a way to get points on the board—a big sack to shut the drive down again. Dawson needs to figure out how to get points on the board before halftime. We'll take the lead in the second half and need to double our points. It doesn't matter if it's a field goal or a touchdown; we need points. Toney with a clutch grab that moved the sticks. Marty Brown is such a fun runner to watch. Great play by Lofton with the sick hurdle. It was a sloppy end to the drive, but we managed to get a field goal out of it. Miami 13, Florida 0. Another big possession by the defense, giving Miami 43 seconds to get more points before halftime, possibly. End of the 2nd Quarter. Miami 13, Florida 0.
First Half Recap
Offensively, we have been sloppy, and we should be up by at least 30 points. Credit to the Gators' defense for their bend, don't break mentality. Defensively, we've been nothing but bullies out there. Florida has only one first down, with 32 yards of offense, and has yet to convert a third down all game. Offense needs to come out and score a touchdown and suck any life the Gators' defense has left. Defense needs to keep balling out against a quarterback with no confidence, and it would essentially be the ball game. Let's see what the second half brings, and with it being a rivalry game, anything can happen.
Third Quarter
Offense needs another drive like the one they had against Notre Dame coming out of the half. Offense needs to go for it on this 4th and 1. Dang, that would've been huge for the touchdown, but one of the O-line guys lost his helmet, and they thought the forward momentum was dead, and they blew it dead. The offense is not going well tonight, and it's very frustrating to see. I mentioned it earlier, but the defense really needs to score, because that would be huge. After all, Florida gets a big break, and they will be right back into this game. Not an ideal start for the defense. If Florida decides to go for it, please, defense, come up big once again. Good play by Napier as Florida picks up the first. The Gators had a big drive and scored a touchdown. Miami 13, Florida 7. Can the offense wake up now? This is absolutely abysmal. Beck, with the int, there is no way this is happening. I'm honestly going to be sick, man. Clutch throw by Lagway. Mesidor stepped up big with the sack. End of the 3rd Quarter. Miami 13, Florida 7.
Fours Up
He's short, the defense bailed Beck out big time, and now we need to kill the clock and score a touchdown. These play calls are sucking hard right now, man. I don't know why we didn't run once this drive. We need to feed FLetcher to at least have a touch. If we lose this game, it'll be the offense's fault since we are playing to lose. This game is proving that Miami is overrated, and we've basically wasted a fantastic defensive performance. Defense clutches up again. Offense needs to give the ball to Fletcher and Brown, and use the pass as the secondary option, cause Beck is a no-show tonight. Great catch by Brown, it was a big boost for how this second half is going. I'm not sure how Lyle is, but this would be a great moment to use his speed. Another big play by Marty Brown. Just keep chewing the clock. Fletcher had a great run to pick up the first down. We need six, but it's okay for a field goal if we keep running the clock out. Florida is fighting hard for Napier, and although I'm not a big fan of the Gators, they are showing they are behind Billy. Let's go, Marty, another big scamper. Marty Brown scored a big touchdown in a key moment in the game. The two-point conversion was unsuccessful. Miami 19, Florida 7. Bain and Mesidor are with a big sack on Lagway, and their draft stock is rising with every game. Ball game, Bain with another pressure, man, I'm gonna miss him when he goes to the NFL next year. Let's run this clock out and go, 4-0. Mark Fletcher is a bellcow with the way he runs the ball; he's excellent, and I can see him being a high draft pick when he goes to the league. Mark Fletcher scored a touchdown, adding a cherry on top to an amazing Saturday. Miami 26, Florida 7. Glad to send the other Florida team back to whatever you call that place in Florida. End of the 4th Quarter. Miami 26, Florida 7.
Final Thoughts
It's great to be a Hurricane. I'm thrilled we won this challenging, gritty game against Florida—a game where the defense's ability to carry the offense was key to the win. The 2001 squad had to do it against Boston College, and tonight they had to do it for the offense. Not comparing this team to the greatest college football of all time, but it shows that not every great team needs a very stout defense. This is the end of the rivalry, for now, because the SEC is moving to a nine-game conference schedule. I'll let this redneck trailer trash school move on, since they'll be using one of the three game slots for Florida State. The all-time series is 31-27 in the Canes' favor. We all know that Bain is likely to be a top 5 to top 10 pick in next year's NFL Draft, but Akeem Mesidor's performance is so impressive that he's on track to be a 1st-round pick. He consistently plays at an elite level. Next week I'm gonna be off talking about the Canes cause they are on a bye week, but the following week, and pending how the game goes for Florida State when they play Virginia, but if Florida States pull it off, College Gameday will be up there in Tallahassee for a potenial top 5 matchup just like how it was back in the 80's and 90's. Go Canes.
